A simple discovery in high school
transformed Randy from Athlete to Performer. Randy “Elvis” Filippi uses his
theatrical background masterfully as he works the crowd night after night. Every
show is different – every show is amazing. Randy brings the King to life in
voice, in movement and in spirit.
Randy was born May 28, 1975 in Schaumburg, IL, a suburb of Chicago.
Though Randy loved music, his main interest growing up was in athletics.
His dream was to pitch in the major leagues.
Because of an arm injury during his Senior year of high school he decided to
audition for the school musical. Randy had never acted, sung, or danced in his
life but he landed a lead role in the musical Brigadoon. His new love was now being on stage.
A last minute decision had Randy changing majors and colleges.
He intended to go to Indiana University to study Business but decided to go to
Illinois Wesleyan University where he studied Musical Theatre.
After two years at IWU, Randy transferred to Columbia College in Chicago
where he earned his theatre degree.
After graduating college in 1997, Randy worked as a professional actor in the Chicago area.
In 2002, he opened his own theatre company where he directed, produced & acted in numerous
productions. In 2001, Randy made his film debut as Pastor Jeremiah in a Testimony Pictures
film.
Although his career was flourishing up North, Randy decided to move South.
Randy moved to the Flagler area in August of 2004 from the Chicago area.
He now resides in Palm Coast, Florida.
SO WHY ELVIS? HOW DID IT ALL START?
In 1993, during a high school talent show, Randy sang a rendition of Blue Suede Shoes
to honor his favorite performer. At that time, he would never have imagined that his
new love of performing, singing, and dancing would lead to a career.
After buying a karaoke machine and some discs in 2000, Randy found his favorite Elvis
song again, Blue Suede Shoes. After doing this Elvis song over and over at house parties
people pushed him to learn more songs. Well, after five years, Randy is still learning
song after song. The only difference now is that he’s no longer performing at his house
in front of family and friends.
Randy now performs his
Elvis Tribute Shows in Florida as well as his home town of Chicago. He performs
at private parties, weddings, corporate events, restaurants, and for charitable
foundations.
